The Moveee team
Free coaching · a real route for every ride
Zwift built this category and still runs it well — but in 2026 it's no longer the only option, and some of the best alternatives cost nothing. If you're hunting for the best free Zwift alternative this year, here's an honest guide to the ones worth your time, and how to pick between them.
First, be honest about what Zwift's really selling
Zwift's product isn't the graphics — it's the population. Thousands of riders online at any hour means a race at 6am on a Wednesday and a group ride at any pace. No free alternative fully matches that yet, and if riding with people is your whole reason for training indoors, factor that in before you switch.
The free alternatives worth trying
MyWhoosh
Closest to ZwiftA free 3D virtual world with racing, group rides and workouts — the most direct free Zwift substitute.
Best if: You want the Zwift formula — a designed world and other riders — without the bill.
IndieVelo / TP Virtual
Free racingA racing-first platform with strong physics and anti-cheat, with a free tier.
Best if: You care most about fair, serious virtual racing.
Moveee Indoor
Your own routes Ours — declaredRebuilds your own saved routes in 3D from real map data. Runs in the browser, nothing to install.
Best if: You want to ride real roads you know — and nothing to download.
How to choose
- Want the Zwift experience for free? MyWhoosh is the closest like-for-like.
- Want serious racing? IndieVelo / TP Virtual, free tier.
- Want to ride real roads you know, with nothing to install? That's the gap Moveee Indoor fills.
The real-roads option, in a bit more detail
Moveee Indoor is free while in alpha and runs entirely in the browser — no download, no launcher. Instead of a designed world it rebuilds your own saved routes in 3D from real OpenStreetMap and elevation data, drives your trainer's resistance from the real gradient, and holds ERG targets. Rides save with full power data to your Moveee training plan and Strava. It's young — Chrome/Edge only, no big racing scene yet — but for riding real roads for free, it's hard to beat.
The best part of "free": you can run more than one. Nobody's checking your loyalty — pick the tool that matches the ride you're in the mood for.
